Ryan and I were married on September 29th, 2012 at 4pm. Our venue was Brassfield Estate Winery, located near Clear Lake, CA.
How long did it take to plan your wedding?
From proposal to wedding, we spent just five months planning. We didn't start right away (it's good to have some downtime and enjoy the moment). Although, we did start looking for a venue ASAP. Those can be difficult to find on short notice.
I was looking for something classy, with lace and a trumpet style skirt. I looked mostly at David's Bridal so that I could enjoy trying on dresses with my Mom and Sister, then have the dress sent to SF. I found a dress I really liked on their website, but almost didn't try it on as the price was a little high. I went to TX for the weekend and my Mom, Sister, and I had a great day trying on dresses. My little baby niece, Addi, joined us and was so patient while we spent time at the store. I selected three dresses to try-on on, including my favorite from the website. When the attendant brought out my choices, Devin (my Sister) secretly pointed out to my Mom which dress she thought I'd pick. She didn't want to influence my decision and didn't say anything to sway me. In the end, she was right. :) I picked my favorite, laced, trumpet dress. Because the dress had no sleeves, the next challenge was how I would alter or add to the dress. Thankfully, I found an all lace shirt from Victoria's Secret, which I wore underneath my dress to give it sleeves.
It was a blur. There are some things I might have done differently (hindsight is 20/20), but in the end, I was thrilled to marry my best friend and love of my life, Ryan.
The theme was classy garden party, mostly because of the venue, but it fit our style perfectly. The colors (cream and peach) were complimentary to the surroundings at the vineyard, and my Brother-In-Law created wonderful centerpieces from pumpkins and pine cones from a nearby Safeway. Brassfield was so generous in providing all the tables, linens, grape juice, glassware, and cute chalkboards to mark the tables.
That's a wrap lovelies!
